I am a first-year grad student in the Biology master's degree program at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Washington. My thesis research is on small regulatory RNAs (sRNAs) in the human gastric bacterial pathogen Helicobacter pylori. I am specifically interested in identifying and measuring sRNA-mediated regulation of virulence factor genes contributing to disease severity in symptomatic cases. After this two-year degree, I intend to pursue a PhD and continue towards becoming a microbiologist working with mechanisms of molecular genetics.
