Research Associate/Senior Research Associate, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry

Orbital Therapeutics is seeking a skilled Research Associate/Senior Research Associate with experience in molecular biology and biochemistry to join the RNA Platform team in our efforts to engineer novel RNA therapeutics. The research associate will help plan, execute, and interpret experiments, including design, production, and characterization of novel RNA molecules, as well as purification and characterization of recombinant proteins. Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design, production, evaluation, and cataloging of novel RNAs
  • Clone, express, purify, and characterize recombinant proteins
  • Document and communicate scientific findings to team members as well as rest of the company
  • Contribute to the scientific strategy, discussion, and output of the team

Required / Preferred Qualifications

  • A BS or MS in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or closely related discipline with two or more years of experience with molecular biology and biochemistry techniques (industry or academia)
  • Hands-on experience with molecular cloning (PCR, Gibson assembly, Golden Gate cloning), RNA (in vitro transcription, HPLC), and/or recombinant protein production (protein expression in E. coli, affinity purification, column chromatography)
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture, FPLC systems, and electronic lab notebooks is a plus
  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills; ability to work independently as well as within a team
