I am a fifth year biochemistry graduate student in Jim Keck's lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My thesis work focuses on G-quadruplexes (G4s) and their roles in regulating DNA replication, transcription, and translation. I am interested in understanding how different proteins are able to bind and unwind G4 structures and how this is unique from their ability to bind or unwind other nucleic acid structures. I am also interested in elucidating how G4s are able to impact gene expression in bacteria.
