I am a PhD candidate in the Brooks lab studying the effects of cigarette smoke and recurrent splicing factor mutations in lung adenocarcinoma patients on the transcriptome. Using human bronchial epithelial cells as my model, I pair phenotypic assays and bioinformatic analysis of Nanopore direct RNA sequencing to examine the effects of altered gene expression, RNA modification, and splicing on phenotype.
