I am a biochemist/bioinformatician with interests in developing next generation sequencing solutions to tackle biological questions. This is primarily through applying and optimizing a novel, streamlined, single-tube small RNA (and DNA) library generation platform named Ordered Two-Template Relay (OTTR) [https://doi.org/10.1073/pnas.2107900118]. The bulk of my thesis work has involved developing and applying OTTR for ribosome profiling. My appreciation for ribosome profiling came from my M. Phil. thesis in Dr. Andrew Firth's lab, where I studied programmed ribosomal frameshifting and stop-codon readthrough in Sindbis virus; before that, my appreciation for virus came from my high school and undergraduate research in Dr. Xiu-Feng (Henry) Wan's lab where I studied emerging influenza D viruses in Mississippi beef and dairy cow population.
